Jonathan McGrain

PRINCIPAL, CAMBER STRATEGY

Jonathan McGrain has spent more than 30 years leading brand, marketing, and communications initiatives for financial services firms, from start-ups to publicly traded companies.

He began his career in credit card marketing at Citibank, then the nation’s largest credit card issuer. He subsequently joined Chemical Bank, where he directed marketing communications for its mortgage banking business, a predecessor of today’s Chase Mortgage.

He later joined Amerin Corporation, where he managed marketing communications and investor relations for the mortgage insurer’s IPO. Following Amerin’s merger with CMAC, he led development and launch of the Radian brand and subsequently directed brand and communications strategy as the company expanded into new markets and businesses.

Jon later moved to Vietnam as Director of Marketing and Communications for VinaCapital, an investment management firm. He also worked with the US-Vietnam WTO Coalition, helping organize American business support for Vietnam’s accession to the World Trade Organization, and advised private equity firms investing in Asia’s frontier markets.

After returning to the United States, he led brand development for Essent, a new private mortgage insurer, through his consulting practice. He subsequently held senior marketing and communications positions at PHH Corporation and DNB First Bank, addressing brand challenges associated with corporate repositioning, acquisitions, and organizational transitions.

Most recently, Jon led marketing and communications for Anywhere Integrated Services, a nationwide title and settlement services business, including digital marketing, sales enablement, and employee communications.

He established Camber Strategy in 2025 to provide brand and communications advisory services to B2B financial services firms.

Jon holds a B.A. in political science from Columbia University and an M.B.A. in marketing and international business from New York University.

Leadership alignment is a critical part of our process. Establishing a clear, shared understanding of the organization’s positioning and narrative helps ensure consistency across internal and external communications.
